"Exactly farmboy the NBN the information super highway will be invaluable to us in the future as we futher develop this vast countries inland and rural areas.
Having access to the rest of the worlds knowledge base and being able to communicate quickly and effectively with the outside world will only enhance country life."

We already have that access. It's called "The Internet". Available already for better value and saves us $50 Billion + into the bargain. Governments trying to pick winners in commerce is always going to end in tears and a huge deficit.

My guess is that the NBN won't have done a great deal by the time there is a change of government next year and the new PM can sell it off to private enterprise - probably at a huge loss, given that fool Conroy's expertise.

Queenslanders spoke quite loudly a few weeks back - the latest Newspoll shows either that Gillard has a tin ear - or that she heard the message and has decided to give the voters the two fingered salute.

Puzzle of the decade: the Newspoll shows Labor primary support still around 32%.

What's their story? Don't read newspapers or follow the news? Rusted on? Don't care that the country is being trashed? Maybe just that they get their news from the ABC and Fairfax where, according to them, the Gillard government is doing a blindingly good job?

If the latter - it explains Fairfax's financial woes for being a Labor cheer squad rather than a serious media arm, and why the ABC should be sold off by a conservative government.
