Moving averages are often key indicators using as triggers in algorythmic trading models. The instersection of MAs calculated using difference lengths of observation are sometimes used as buy or sell indicators.

I am not sure whether I see woteva's negative scenario. I think things will unfold more gradually.

Negative technical view: Gold is moving down progressively between well established trend lines.

Positive technical view: The price has held the fib line at around 1620.

I would like to see a break to the upside throught 1670 and 1700 before I got very excited.


The vol in my stock position has dropped right off, so I am ignoring the technical weakness in the spot market and will wait and see what happens.
