I don't swallow that line- not when the MD of Lion is rumoured to be bemoaning the price of his investments such as LAF and SEDs, using the argument that they more critical mass (size) to get on the investment radar and achieve real value. (On this point Baillieu's is meant to have an NPV of 28 cents on LAF).

They have been involved with mergers before-MPI and the Tanzanian gold play.

By jumping off the board of a potential target, they can be more proactive without facing conflict issues. IRN share bid for LAF? Gallery share bid for SED?

Pure supposition of course. But the industry could use a bit more rationalisation?
