But the problem is - investors DO panic and sell their shares (sometimes unknowingly via their stoplosses). And of course, the main offenders here would be the other large holders such as super funds, managed funds, etc. The little retail investors here on HC would hold enough shares between us to cause a blip on the radar.
Even those of us who bought a LOT of shares when they were down around 30c like I did, would be totally insignificant in the MS (and others) scheme of things.
I can see what you're trying to say - hold tight and don't get panicked out of your shares. I agree completely. But it's that mid-tier shareholder - the ones with a few or several million shares - that cause the shorting to be so profitable for the big boys. Not the little fellas like us. And until the big boys finish playing their games, we will just have to take your advice and hold onto our shares and be sure not to sell into the shorters' hands.
I think we actually agree in essence, but I was just taking issue with your assertion that because 9.7% of shares are held short, and MS hold 10%, there couldn't be much more shorting left to do. One doesn't equal the other.
OK - enough debate on that matter - at least it's a civilized debate, unlike some of the emotional rubbish that passes for "debate" among the anti-Lynas crowd.
