Rural Kids Need Broadband Too
The Ministers for Education and Communications and Information Technology
today announced the provision of broadband services to 57 of New Zealand's
remote schools. TeamTalk subsidiary Araneo has been selected to provide
service to the 28 most inaccessible of these.
TeamTalk's Managing Director David Ware says Araneo is thrilled to be
involved. "While the project will not have a material effect on the group's
earnings it's great to be able to help give country kids the same
opportunities to learn as their city peers."
In addition Araneo will be extending this project to provide seriously good
broadband to the surrounding communities. "These are areas that because of
their remote locations will miss out on RBI (Rural Broadband Initiative)
funding so it's great to see the MED stepping up to the plate and backing us
on this one" says Ware.
