Europe Distillates-Diesel margins steady as US inventories fall

LONDON, March 27 (Reuters) - Northwest European diesel barge were broadly steady at about $24 a barrel on Wednesday amid brisk buying activity and as U.S. inventories fell.

• Around 42,000 metric tons of diesel barges traded in the Platts window, up sharply from 28,000 tons on Tuesday. Shell was the main seller with BP, TotalEnergies, Glencore, Gunvor and BP among the buyers.
• U.S. distillate stockpiles USOILD=ECI , which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 1.2 million barrels last week to 117.3 million barrels, versus expectations in a Reuters poll for a 0.5 million-barrel rise, Energy Information Administration data showed.
• Diesel and gasoil imports into Europe are set to reach 870,000 barrels per day (bpd) this month, Kpler data showed, up from 810,000 bpd in February.
• Nigeria's giant Dangote oil refinery could bring to an end a decades-long gasoline trade from Europe to Africa worth $17 billion a year, heaping pressure on European refineries already at risk of closure from heightened competition, analysts and traders said.
