S.Korea's WP buys coal via spot, term tenders

  1. SEOUL, Sept 13 (Reuters) - Korea Western Power Co Ltd (WP) bought coal via spot and five-year term tenders that closed on Sept.8, a source from the utility said on Wednesday.

    Price and seller details were not available. Other details of the purchases are as follow

    --Spot tender

            70,000    min. 4,600 kcal/kg    Indonesia   Dec 2017  

    70,000 min. 4,600 kcal/kg Indonesia Dec 2017

    --Term tender

          440,000  min. 5,700 kcal/kg  Australia  Dec 2017-Jan 2022   

    *Note: NCV stands for Net Calorific Value. Under the term deal, the utility will bring in 220,000 tonnes per year of coal for the first contract year.
