MINING executives are "excited" at what they describe as "significant" prospects for manganese mining in the mountainous fringes of the Mary Valley.
Speaking from Perth yesterday, Eclipse Metals Ltd executive chairman Carl Popal told The Gympie Times he could only hope that the good news keeps on coming.
In a formally worded stock exchange announcement, the company described the valley deposits it had surveyed as "significant".
Mr Popal said the area had a history of successful mining of the metal, which he said was one of the world's most important and beneficial environmental products.
