Hard to understand this - seems to be a cultural thing. If an Aussie made the mother of all stuff ups, they would tend to keep quiet. But if a Brit stuffs up they seem to want to broadcast it to the world.

It's a bit like the UK TV program Embarrassing Bodies isn't it? "I've got a disgusting growth on my private parts that's swollen and covered in pus. What shall I do? I know, I'll go on the telly and show my bits to the nation."
