I don't mind this setup, it builds engagement faster.
It's a lot easier to sign companies that have an active community who can also help promote our product. Doing this ourselves on our budget would be costly - not to mention we don't have millions of dollars anyway.
Gamers are very loyal and respond to word of mouth and communities.
It is a good idea; but i also think this business model isn't forever. It's designed to cross promote and build growth - once that's done, we can start 'charging'.
