I have a significant indexed FY2020 capital gain. However, when the borders closed down I sadly panicked and sold a truckload of SBM shares for $1.85-ish and RRL shares for $3.00 etc. I loaded up with gold miners with a fixed interest loan to get a FY2020 tax deduction and felt very uncomfortable with that debt and overreacted to the Coronavirus operating risks and bought a big chunk of physical PMs. My recent share sales have offset my unindexed CGT losses. I am back into a hold and wait mode now.
The moral of my story is don’t use debt- just pay your taxes!
