It would be interesting to see how IG do the calculations. The detail.
So, at 4:00pm Sydney time each day, IG adjust their ASX200 quote by an amount corresponding to the dividends paid the following day.
So, this Wednesday, 23 reflects Thursday dividends, dominated of course by BHP.
I also do so these calculations (for some other stuff I do) and I always get a different number (not very different, I got 21 instead of 23).
I would imagine that the variables involved are BHP dividend amount, BHP market price, BHP market Cap, ASX200 Total Capitalisation. (similar for all companies paying a div that day)
But these numbers are published the week prior, so the timing of the calculation could be a factor
