agree with what you're saying but I would assume the lack of (or smaller amount of) leveraged liquidity compared to those that flow into the US markets is the reason why the ASX hasn't made new highs after new highs while US indices did.
Dow and Nasdaq get shuffled liquidity flow, i think. Having positions in all three of SP500, Dow and Nasdaq indices I can tell that some times they move at different paces while majority of the time they move in unison.
