Amateur, the percentage increase/decrease in share price on the NASDAQ and the ASX for PLL (after the USA dollar and Aussie dollar valuation is accounted for) is Not Hard Wired.

By that, I mean it is up to each market to work it out and maintain some type of close parity.

For instance, it nearly Always happens in probably over 99% of the time, that if either the ASX price or NASDAQ price went up (say) 30%, then soon afterwards, and usually the next day, the other one also goes up about 30% in order to maintain parity. Why? Well, there are a number of economic reasons.

There can often be some slight difference in value, maybe a percent or three briefly if some fund decides to buy in big on either the NASDAQ or the ASX, and sometimes a rapid movement in value differential between the Aussie dollar and the USA dollar can briefly cause this.

However, over 25 years of investing I've found the difference is usually rapidly closed down by international arbitrage traders, who have very sophisticated algorithms now that soon kick into gear to take advantage, of either an immediate change in the value of the Aussie dollar, or in a rapid differential for a stock trading primary shares on the NASDAQ with a secondary listing of CDIs on the ASX. International arbitrage is big business now, and extremely profitable, and there are some companies that only specialise in this.

Sorry, that's kind of a long winded answer, but if I understand your question correctly, the answer is No, an immediate increase of 5% in the stock price on the NASDAQ does not "automatically" guarantee a 5% increase in stock price on the ASX, and vice versa, but it nearly always happens, for the reasons I have given.

    Cheers,
    Gw
