    stayer,

Australia does not have an energy policy. Consequently the only reservation of gas is through WA government policy, whether Liberal or Labor. Has been thus since the State Agreement which underwrote the development of the North West Shelf. And companies are queuing up to get into WA offshore. So the "you will kill exploration" argument is a furphy trotted out by APPEA and only believed by Canberra pollies, both sides, and beauracrats.

Any country with any sense reserves energy for its own use. So no chance of that happening in Australia except at the State level!

But there is, IMO, a backlash coming. As the LNG jobs go offshore or to expats and people start to figure out that PRRT (like the MRRT) will collect little, if any, royalty on LNG they will rightly conclude this once off resource has been given away to super majors for basic engineering works, few jobs, lots of spin and no royalty.

This realisation, however, will be too late to impact on gas prices.

So no point worrying about it. Best to load up on gas stocks and enjoy the ride!

Installing a wood fired water heater is also advised.
