good morning ahrega, only thing I beg to differ is that the NWE ship wasn't sinking and is not about to sink. we have a strong keel and our ships material, under the water level is also tight bands of numerous slim boards held together to form a stop to the penetration of water. We are afloat and steady as she blows this week.

agree that the ships crew at the wheel, couldn't read the weather ahead and jumped into life rafts but not the actual ship owners and paying passengers... we are here and now steering us all home through the rough seas we are experiencing and will get our ship safely back to harbour.

Prezently reading an Australian book The Shipwrecked from early Australian colonisation history when the Dunbar's experienced Captain possibly accepted a bet to arrive from England in Australia by a certain day and in his haste, in cyclonic weather and at night (in the dark) he attempted to enter Sydney Harbour through the Heads, without clear light from the lighthouse (hampeted by the strong squalls) and misread his position .. ploughed the ship and all his wealthy paying passengers to their death into the southetn cliffs ... miraculously one ship's crew survived (found on a cliff's edge)to tell a story of the crews concern.. why did the Captain not send the ship back out to sea and sit out the storm. The sole survivor saw all the passengers and crew die by sharks and by getting slammed into the cliff edge and rocks... and also saw tbe ship they passed enter the heads the following morning... see some similarities here.. a far different outcome to history of the "Norwester", the crew took control, and the only sensible thing to do turn the ship out to calmer waters and sit until we have our viewing and lighthouse and weather to guide us into harbour.

We are the "Norwester" not the "Dunbar". Turn your ship to safety and await fair weather.

Goodluck Nowesters... the squall is intensifying .. take your ship to safe waters and sit it out.

Greenleaf PS .. the Dunbar's Captain was Chris Green and the only survivor was James Johnson.
