@310843B; F111s certainly had teething problems which were widely reported in the media - as it should have been in a social democratic country.
Unlike the additional fifty-four obsolete F35s Abbott signed Australia up to they had a range appropriate to the size of Australia and relative to F35s were lightning fast.
Due to Liberal Party stupidity taxpayers have paid in excess of $140 million per F35 - ones that are not covered by warranties and that cost exclusive of subsequent maintenance etc. even the Canadians jumped ship and bailed out ... not the Coalition though!
Back to the comment re drones and other new weapons technologies, our fleet of F35s are about as useful as tits on a bull - tortoises of the skies!
