I think regi has blinders on and perhaps has not ventured outside this great country, relying on the news media for geography lessons.
If I had to fall ill, one of the worst places in the world to do this is the USA. I'd rather fall ill in China than in the US. Seriously.
Everyone I meet who visits China for the first time comes back changed - the reality is very different from the memory of Mao Tse Tung's pyjama suits. NanJing Nan Lu in Shanghai for example is one of the worlds great shopping streets - easily beating (in my view) Rodeo Drive or the Champs d'Elyse.
The sooner the US fades into oblivion the better for the rest of the world. But it would be better to "fade" rather than to "crash".
