Simple really, whether the enemy of my enemy is a friend or an enemy, might be a known unknown or conversely might be an unknown known depends really; and it necessarily follows that the opposite is clearly true i.e. whether the friend of my friend is a friend or not can be a unknown known or a known unknown, depends again if you are having or not having a good day.
