Sounds great until your realise it's the completely unbiased National Iranian Copper Industries Company announcing the news on the completely unbiased Tehran Times.
The official put the country’s total copper reserves at 40 billion tons, saying that Iran currently has the world’s seventh-largest copper reserves.... The total proven reserves of Iran's mines are estimated at about 60 billion tons, which is expected to reach more than 100 billion tons
I don't know what metric this official's using; but a 40 billion tonne national resource ranked as the worlds 7th largest copper reserve sounds a bit off.
In comparison, the top 5 ranking countries by copper reserves combined; Chile, Peru, Australia, Russi and Mexico amounts to 494mt. Globally, there's about 870mt.
Sounds great until your realise it's the completely unbiased...
