I'm not sure I would agree that it's fading particularly with the introduction of BNPL. It's been operating in the US for 12 months now and I don't think they would bother with Australia if it wasn't viable.
Here's some numbers for you, last FY PayPal made $17.7b USD. MasterCard made $16.8b and Visa punched in at $22.9b. I don't think PayPal is going away...
