You're quoting stats from the first of March and the new version of the app was released only a few days ago. The complaints about the app not updating sound a lot more like a Google Play services issue on the person's phone rather than an issue with the app. As I said, it's a handful of people and people with problems are more likely to say something than those that are able to use the app without issue.
We won't know the success rate until next quarter most likely.
