It was buoyed by car manufacturer Volkswagen, which rose 6 per cent to become the most valuable company on the DAX.Its shares have gained a staggering 41 per cent this week, and are on course to record the biggest weekly gain ever, after it stepped up its switch to fully electric vehicles. Taking on Tesla, the German brand wants to deliver more than 450,000 electric cars this year. Volkswagen is targeting one million electric vehicle deliveries for the wider group.
