I have also recently noticed the disconnect between VAS and XKO (ASX 300)) which VAS claims to track. Today XKO up 0.9% and VAS up 0.06% (out by a factor of 15) - since I'm using VAS as my benchmark in Sharesight it really is annoying.
The only things I can think of is that XKO is realtime actual performance that VAS is attempting to emulate - possibly at this time, poorly....?
And VAS just paid out dividends (which in non ETFs usually results in a corresponding pullback) - perhaps VAS had to sell shares to pay the dividends and has fallen out of step as a result...?
I'd love someone who actually knows about these things to clarify for us
