think your missing how consolidation works.
its a share is worth 10 shares at whatever price the shares are at when consolidation occurs.
market cap will stay the same, shareholders proportion of the company stays the same.
In your case described above, if they suddenly did consolidation at half the current trading price, youd be buying as much as you can after consolidation as the price is bound to double for the market cap to remain the same.
