It depends on what trade, and if union related. There was a huge demand for bricklayers/formworkers/plasterers on the back of the residential boom in Brisbane. Hence... the labour for those guys has increased quite a lot.

For small house builds... rates are like $70/hr charge out. After expenses... the blokes get like $35-$45/hr.

For commercial and larger stuff... up the charge rate to $85-$95/hr.

Keep in mind... you can still hire big Asian tiling/plastering/etc crews for cheap cheap. And there's lots of cheap crap being built let me assure you.
