$55 for turning up to work and jumping into someone else's truck for a 10-hour shift would be good pay. I was considering it for someone who owns their own truck, as a close friend of mine does. He has just been put onto a 9-5 schedule and is very concerned about this change for him given the expenses associated with running his own vehicle ($240,000 truck new price 2 years ago). He figures he needs to work more hours per week than is now being offered to him, given the influx of migrant truck drivers, hence the cut back. Just feeling concern for him right now...... He used to begin work early, perhaps 6.30 or 7.00 am and finish at 3-5, whenever his last job was completed..... He is now considering the possibility of taking early retirement...
