Data such as this is fairly accurate.
But it provides little basis for sensationalist journalism so gets little media attention.

I am not sure about data on social benefits, did you look?
I think you may misunderstand the word data.
Data on shares is important, all financial records are data, yields, PE, all customer research is data, economic readings - data.
Maybe you are referring to technical data such as charting?
Obviously there is common sense in choosing potential investment options.
But you then need to look at some form of data as part of your research. no?
