Red B- I still am in contact with L2, who really does have extensive US connections in the game. I've bounced the last couple of announcements off him and asked him to explain various things to me.
For what it's worth, he gives the PC approach the thumbs up and says that if a template is followed slowly, deliberately and not rushed that there should be no reason why some gas cannot be produced, given that test flows from most of the new wells were reasonably impressive in comparison with average US well flows. The question is how much is some? His overall impression( and that's all it is) is that the inclusion of some old wells with the RR wells should make for easily saleable results.
As an aside, he did have thoughts that it would probably be worthwhile to drill one or two "quick and dirty" wells at Helper in order to fully bring the resource potential( translation: saleability) of that field up to date- these wells could be flow tested with the intent of never bringing them online.
He had some technical input, a lot of which went over my head.
His Texas connections explained that the recent presence of workover rigs would indicate removal of production tubing and lowering of submersible pumps into the casing. He said that without knowing the design of the tubing completion set within the well it was not certain, but it was pretty quick and easy to remedially open the packer by injecting a shot of gas down the backside anulus. He said that the tubing string needed a gas lift mandrel installed above the packer- at this stage I was beginning to lose him, but he added something about installing, ideally, equipment in the completion string which would not require the presence of a workover rig in future.
Interestingly, he also said that it's up to the pipeline operator to determine when gas export into the line can occur- this will be permitted when mae can show steady gas flows, with reductions in water and debris.
He senses things heading in the right direction and applauds PC's "steady as she goes approach", rather than what he suspects was previously a " wham bam thank you mam" approach and doomed to failure.
Hope this makes a little sense- i think the most important aspects are the change in rate of implementation of strategies being utilised in the field.
