That is not how the auction works. If you put on a lower offer, then it just means he wants to make sure it gets sold, which will be at a price determined in the match up.If the announcement is good, and the prices opens at say 25cents, then that is what the seller gets.
Remember though, often many of the pre-open bids and offers in the matchup are fake, and get pulled just before open. Games get played to sucker in the nervous and the novices.
