    During the GFC iron ore and other base metals also had strong price rises on the back of Chinese demand. It's not clear this will also be the case this time. There are numerous factors in play here. WAF looks to expand in West Africa so how much the AUD/USD cross rate matters is questionable. Could AUstralia's subdued rate of covid propel the AUD higher, could the USD lose its safety premium, sure. In the long run it seems to me aust goldies have not yet really entered a bull mkt, and good ones like WAF are still cheap.
