All the emotional newbies tried shutting down the conversation that the stock was highly overvalued. BIG red flag!
"Buy the rumour sell the news" is a very, very standard stock market strategy. Sorry to hear about your loss. Try to learn about what happened to improve your investing and trading in the future.
