A full service end to end recruitment company? What on earth are you talking about. They don't do about 85% of the parts within "end to end" recruitment. They are a technology solution. Yes their customer service is important, but ultimately it's whether these curated talent pools make it easier and cheaper for the clients to hire quality employees that matters. I don't believe the curated pools are actually very well aligned to doing any of these things yet based on what I have seen. Maybe, with the significant spending, they will create a product that works though.
And anyone using the "large clients are using it so it must be good" line is not employing a sound strategy. Right now recruitment as a service is under a lot of scrutiny. Many many companies trying to disrupt what is an industry that has a lot of inefficiency in it. Companies are extremely open to trying new solutions. Getting a big brand name to try a new tool is not difficult, even when it has a small cost attached. Getting them to keep using it after it doesn't make their lives easier is a different matter.
I actually hope 1pg is successful. I just don't see it yet based on the product they have. Effective and efficient talent acquisition is very very difficult. That's why the agency side of recruitment has survived despite terribly unproductive models of how they work and get paid. 1pg might be clever in how they scrape profiles of potential employees, but the real challenge of recruitment is in assessment. Technical, cultural. Behavioural. Not just finding people.
