We get the leadership we vote for (collectively) - so deserve all we get! - the country is run by muppets on both sides.
The whole voting system needs to be revisited to stop the candidates put up by the big 2 becoming the end result of an election - both Libs and Labor are 2 sides of the same corrupt coin. The preferential system just does not work. If the Libs and Labor candidate cannot attract at least 51% of the primary vote they should not be allowed to enter parliament as a voting politician - and their constituents should be able to oust them if they are found wanting by those who elected them - all it should take is enough people of the constituency to petition the Gov Gen - who should then remove them and call a by election with said Muppet unable to re-stand for election. Gov Gen (or similar) should also be elected by the people and should not have any past affiliation to political parties
