Look - being very honest here and not trying to re-stoke any arguments at all. There are a multitude of anti-viral drugs out there - and some are being used so at least partially effective against the symptoms of COVID. Maybe BIT225 is superior - and maybe it isn't - and we need to accept that. None of us really know. If BIT225 is the god of all anti-virals, then it is surprising that BP has not snapped it up. They are pretty cluey when it comes to new drug opportunities.

Even if they were worried that their own drugs would lose sales, they would have snapped it up anyway and just shelved it. $500mil would do the job - small bikkies for a BP

I am not saying definitively that BIT's COVID work is not valid - but HIV is a very serious disease and finding a cure for it trumps a COVID treatment - and it is just a treatment and not a cure for COVID - hands down.

Every lab in the world with a bunsen burner and a microscope is chasing a COVID treatment. Very crowded place.

Yes, COVID is not to be sneezed at (no puns intended) and, yes, they are predicting that it will cause an increase in deaths for the vulnerable. That does not change the fact that a cure for HIV is the holy grail.
