    Icon quits second Lydia well
Australias Icon Energy will quit its Lydia-11 coal bed methane well on ATP 626P in Queenslands Surat basin after finding stimulation would be needed to produce gas flows.

The well was drilled to a depth of 915 metres, with a total of 12 metres of coal penetrated in the well, the company said in an announcement.

Icon found permeability of 10 millidarcies in the deeper Taroom coals, which it said did not fit its plan to find spots of little risk, suitable for production testing.

The company has plugged and abandoned the well, returning the Atlas Drilling Rig #2 to the Lydia-12 well, which was suspended earlier this month after encountering stuck pipe problems, requiring specialised equipment from Perth.

Following the drilling and testing of Lydia-12 the rig will move 11 kilometres southeast to drill Lydia-13.

This is the second well disappointment for Icon in its program on the basin, with the Lydia-10 well having proved dry earlier this month.
