Wind or Solar is 110% the cheapest on a new build basis.
But not as cheap as the existing dirt burning LYA brownies or AgLs Bayswater coal offtake.
Economically:
AGLs brown dirt in Victoria is free.
AGLs black stuff in NSW is at cost plus,
Renewables variability adds to volatility
Higher volatility drives higher future prices
higher futures prices is input into future DMO decisions
Future DMO decision drives cost to the consumer...
All of the above bode well for AGL to get on with paying again the big divies and restart its renewables push.
