'Greedy companies' that were barely keeping the lights on when the coal price was low for significant periods.
'Greedy companies' that are providing windfall royalties to the governments. QLD is netting twice the usual haul, for example.
Using some of that windfall to ensure the companies aren't taking a loss would be about the most ethical thing possible in this highly manipulated situation.
So much for the hope we'd see some clarity after the decision/s last week.
Seems clear as mud. Markets haven't been taking such ambiguity well in 2022. Not expecting it to change now.
A shame our political 'choices' are Bad & Worse.
