Myself, I think they will back down from taxing coal. Why? Three reasons:
- They know coal is essential for other countries to survive the coming Winter, put a tax on it and the price will go up - it's a tax that will literally kill people. - The coal businesses have money to lobby with, 24x7 advertising saying how evil the tax is, see point#1... bye-bye next election. - The Green dream needs a bogeyman to point at to stop too many questions being asked about how practical green power really is. Get rid of coal and you have a maybe on nuclear at some point - not a good enough bogeyman yet.
I think we will see a sharp reversal on Monday, it's done it before, and it is likely to occur again. Hang on. As always DYOR.
