Running from memory here from my research into china & coal a few months ago. China produces three and a half billion tons of its own coal (rating at 3500 kcal/kg .vs. Aust 5600 kcal/kg) and incl transport is about $120/tonne. Most of their import is from Indonesia until Indonesia stopped exports a few months ago. Most of china's coal furnaces were set up to run high quality hard coal and the CCP is forcing them to use low quality coal so pollution is always a problem. Overall (thermal+coking) Aust sold/sells around 40m tonnes which is small compared to china's overall usage. Try google search "china coal mining use" and gets loads of stuff to plough through - especially if you get one termed "china dialogue". Try looking at the whitehaven annual report from 2022 as it has lots of relevant numbers.
