Australia never stopped exporting Gas to China - and now that China wants to ramp up again, it needs more energy - there is no more additional gas so it will need more coal
This is also the problem in Europe - there is no embargo on Russian gas, but Russia won’t supply it,and US gas is very expensive - so coal burning power stations are being taken out of retirement and now on standbye.
The drop in coal prices is only temporary because Europe has stockpiled gas and China hasn’t pushed the expansion button yet - this will all change and it could happen quite soon AIMO
