tbh I’d be happy if the miners took some of their profits and invested in a “truth telling” media campaign to go on the front foot against these trots.
It doesn’t have to be wordy, or empathetic.
It just needs to sow some hard truths to Joe inner city. Things like
“Minerals paid enough in tax to give every man, woman and child in this country x amount (thousands)”
”Welfare in this country relies on our mineral exports”
”Selling our minerals makes a net positive effect to carbon emissions due to quality”
”Without mineral exports continuing, we will experience a deep recession.”
Australians are already starting to do it tough. If the case is laid out in front of them that things not getting worse relies on mineral exporting not being impeded, and then they are and it gets worse, I can see a big swing against Labor governments for whom the economy is always something the have an ill reputation for.
