Scientologists get slapped with massive auditing costs. Mormons expect 10% from gross income, no exceptions, that includes children's pocket-money or money from odd jobs. I think the church you escaped from was not a passage to heaven. Most churches and religions have massive accumulations of wealth they do little community good with, so your 10% given to one of these bodies would not have helped you. If however you found yourself moved enough to help somebody in need with a bit of your loose change then you will received spiritual flybys in accordance with the sacrifice you make. Donating or gifting to a religion is not necessarily gifting to charity for the love of God because most churches wouldn't know God if they tripped over Him. Be assured you will get in your afterlife exactly what you deserve.
