    Your reply is pretty obtuse ... at the time you couldnt give oil away for $20 per barrel, coal was equally heavily discounted and there was no groundswell of concern regarding carbon emissions.

    I would bet my left one that the CS Energy manager of the time (Ptolemy? Riverbrae? Capman? It couldnt have been Andy-J lol) was risk averse, consevative and non visionary. The moment they decided not to stump up with the money for the Chinchilla UCG project they commited to a new coal or gas fired power station.

    Decisions like that happen ... but I dont see it as an inditement of work by the Chinchilla pioneers ... its more an inditement of short sightedness by a consevative utility and its management.

    Lets see how good that CS Energy decision pans out to be over the 30 year life cycle of their adopted conventional project as new UCG projects are commissioned and after a carbon emissions tax tax is introduced.
