Based on your logic, before LNC ‘dumped’ Ergo Exergy, Chinchilla project could not be qualified as ‘significant’ ?
Listen to what LNC said in its prospectus in April 2006, “The UCG operation in Chinchilla is by far the largest and the longest ever in the western world.” … “In 1999 Linc Energy established a UCG facility at its mining development licence (MDL 309) at Chinchilla, Queensland. Linc Energy first produced Syngas at this site on 26 December 1999 and achieved the following significant milestones during a period of 30 months of continuous gas production: • 95% recovery of coal resource; • 75% of total energy recovery;” And plus it was a most cost effective UCG project in the world.
Up to now, when people refer to the success of Chinchilla project, it refers to the Chinchilla project with Ergo Exergy technology and not with the Skotchinsky Institute technology. Which Australian guy has been credited for Chinchilla’s success? It is Dr Len Walker! Yes, it is Dr Len! Who is the technology provider? It is Ergo Exergy technology!
A quote from LNC prospectus in 2006: “Ergo Exergy is the provider of UCG technology at Linc Energy’s gasification plant in Chinchilla and is recognised globally as a leading source of this expertise and knowhow.”
To tell you the truth, up to now a new UCG project with the Skotchinsky Institute technology has not been lit up and run yet.

How much did Ergo Exergy charge LNC for its royalty? (If you don’t know it, I can tell you) How much does Skotchinsky Institute charge LNC please?

Sure, Russians could be a teacher to Ergo Exergy. In fact, there are quite a few Russian scientists work for Ergo Exergy. The scientists including these Russian scientists at Ergo Exergy have improved old Russian UCG technology and patent the new UCG technology called the Exergy UCG technology (eUCG) which is much more efficient and much more cost effective.
Do you know what is the unit cost per ton coal gasified for Russian UCG ? and Do you know what is the unit cost per ton coal gasified for Ergo Exgergy eUCG?
There are many many examples to show that students can stand higher than their teachers.
Example: It is Englishman who invents and plays table tennis (Ping Pong) first. Chinese has later improved Ping Pong’s technology to make the ball spin much more powerful and much more speedier so that they are standing higher than their teacher (Englishman).

Once again I have to say that we don’t care why and how Dr Len left LNC because Ergo Exergy stands by Dr Len and Ergo Exergy’s action is a strong and clear indication that Dr Len did nothing wrong to LNC at the time. Why couldn’t Dr Walker and Ergo Exergy commercialise UCG at Chinchilla in 6 years? This is a very good question and may I suggest that you should really ask LNC this question instead because LNC has not been able to commercialise UCG at Chinchilla yet after ‘dumping’ Dr Len. Any way there is an answer for you for this question from LNC’s prospectus in 2006 as follows: “However, the process has never been exploited commercially in the western world, primarily as a consequence of the historically low prices of oil and gas which have effectively discouraged large-scale development projects.”
