Ok Sayrex, firstly WPL are a deep sea and land based conventional oil and gas explorer and producer. They have never participated in unconventional shale/fracking ventures. This is a very different approach in endeavouring to produce oil/gas. Woodside's expertise does not cover numerous small volume shale well drilling and fracturing. Woodside have their plate completely full at the moment with BHP's and their own proven oil/gas assets. The Browse, Scarborough and Senegal just to name a few of their own. These are all substantial assets, resources requiring enormous capital expenditure.
ATS has a resource that has not been proven to be capable of being economically recovered. They need to drill at depths of 7000ft and laterally at 7000ft ( approx 20 fracking stages) and have not been able to do it with any consistency. Evidenced by $80mill spent last drilling campaign on 6 wells with the most optimistic view given them three out of six as being successful before running out of funds.
Woodside would have no, absolutely no interest at all in looking at the ATS resource.
With respect Sayrex, I would recommend you do some more research on ATS. It is very much a speculative investment, albeit with a proven resource. That being said if they were to find a partner and they can somehow prove that they can extract the resource consistently on an economic basis (oil price $60/B plus) the stock price would run very fast and hard indeed.
