It explains why there is such vehemont opposition to the notion of climate change. Everybody knows inherently that capitalism is incapable of dealing with any crisis. Actually "crisis" is the normal situation for capitalism. So any real crisis to the underlying economic base, the natural world, must be denied. Capitalism is premised on an assumption of infinite natural resources. To admit that there is an environmental crisis is to reject capitalism.
