And now we reap the costs - and the social and welfare upheavals.
These latest hundreds letting themselves into our unlocked house, uninvited, are said to be from Sri Lanka.
My Sri Lankan family relos, from families who have lived and worked hard here for decades, (some came right after WW2) - their children and grandkids all Aussie, who have reliable up-to-date contacts and information back in their former homeland - are absolutely adamant in saying (and they come and go frequently) things are well restored back there - and there is NO situation still existing there, peaceful once more, which could lead these people to claim, allegedly absolutely falsely, as they are, they are fleeing from something, as "refugees".
This intelligence coming from some rural people, too - not just cityfolk's opinions. People, for instance, with coconut plantations or similar, way out in the country areas, and up north - closer to where the troubles once were, people who know what the real deal is over there. Some of them from old Colomo Tamil families themselves, so not unsympathetic o Tamils per se. But all is now well in Sri Lanka, they say - and they are extremely angry at hw we're being duped by these people, and call it outright ruses and stunts. Bet these boat arrivalists have all "lost"bteir ID's too! The standard lie. Funny how all boat people are THIS careless, and irresponsible.. Not one of them can keep track of their personal papers, it seems! How stupid do they think we are?
These impostors, with no basis for their claims, should be put on planes on a turn around basis - and flown back overnight. Just as any of us would be - arriving at most world wide airports without any ID's or paperwork, expecting to get in anyway!
