Kippa, We are not bound by the UN. The UN has no enforcement power.
We are one of a group of countries (not all) who agreed voluntarily to abide by the Refugee convention. We are not bound, we can pull out and join the non participants anytime we like. Alternatively we can abide by the convention by providing temporary sanctuary until the refugees can return to their own countries.
The 1946 Convention was not intended to be a migration scheme. It has outlived its purpose. Bacci
