wells "drilled to the north and northwest of the Prospect. These wells are Gulf Canada Seismosaur Federal #1, Pacific Western/Equity #1 Thompson Unit, and Mobil/American Petrofina Elba Flats Unit #1-30. Other wells have been drilled nearby, but were not included in this study because they did not penetrate Pennsylvanian shelf sediments. Quintana Yellow Cat Federal USA #1- 9, located to the northwest of the Golden Eagle prospect, penetrated evaporates and black shale, typical of basinal facies in the Paradox Basin. Mobil #1 McCormick Federal “C”, located to the northeast of the Prospect, penetrated a thick overhanging granitic headwall, and terminated in a short section of probable Pennsylvanian strata. Arco Onion Creek Unit, Exxon Onion Creek Federal #1, Phillips Onion Creek #2, and Mobil Federal #1, all located to the southeast of the Cataract Canyon Lineament, penetrated a thick Pennsylvanian arkosic sequence. Sunoco Crescent #1 was drilled in 1972 to a depth of 4,569 metres and reached total depth in the Devonian. It penetrated the entire Pennsylvanian and Mississippian section but had no structural closure. The section contained arkose and varicolored clastics to a depth of 3,840 metres, followed by evaporites and carbonates with thin dark shales to total depth."
